Dancing with the Stars

I love watching ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. I’ve been a fan since the show started.  I’m one of those people who loves to dance, but never had a formal lesson.

When the offer to take part in a local DWTS came along, I was so excited!  Here was a chance to live my dream, and help a wonderful cause like the American Cancer Society at the same time. Over the years, family members and good friends have battled one form of cancer or another. I know the money we’ve raised over the years has gone to research to fight this cruel disease.  Now here’s another opportunity to raise money for more research that will save lives.

The first lesson was basic cha-cha moves. I have hips that move, I thought, I can do this. Went home and practiced to Pink’s, “let’s get this party started”.
Fun stuff. Then came lesson two. Learning the proper way to move the body and the correct steps for each dance isn’t as easy as I thought. I have muscles I didn’t know existed, but hey, it’s time to get in shape.  Lesson three was even tougher, but I went home determined to practice the moves. Thanks to Brian and Jonathan for the patient training, (picked a better cha cha song to practice to, by the way, Santana-Smooth)

Can’t promise that it will be a 10 performance in January, but I will give it my all in the name of those who suffer with cancer, and hope it will make a difference.

I’ll let you know how the next lesson goes, at least my hand muscles don’t ache, LOL.
