14th annual Florida Chautauqua Assembly, A Journey into Africa, Thursday, January 29 through Sunday, February 1, 2009, DeFuniak Springs, Florida. This 4-day conference style event for all ages features presentations by Naomi Tutu, daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jim Fowler, former co-star of Mutual of Omahas Wild Kingdom, Gregory Garland, U.S. State Departments Bureau of African Affairs. Enjoy Civil War Camp & re-enactments, live birds of prey demonstrations, afternoon teas with living history tributes, museum displays about Africa and evening performances. Take an excursion to Walton County, Floridas rare coastal dune lakes and learn about the conservation efforts of Africas and Americas wildlife conservation efforts. Find out about travel adventures to Africa, and learn to play Mancala, the worlds oldest board game which originated in Africa. Participate in Mancala tournaments and meet our featured American president, Teddy Roosevelt, played by Joe Wiegand of Illinois. Primitive campsites will be available.
