2008 Jefferson Awards
For outstanding public service benefiting local communities
Over 25 years ago, the American Institute for Public Service and the Jefferson Awards were founded in Washington D.C.
The Jefferson Award is given to those who serve, help and heal across America.
One of its major goals is to reach into communities across the country to reward individuals who might otherwise go unnoticed.
Too many Americans view the country with increasing cynicism. The basis of our democracy, trust in leaders and trust that each of us can make a difference, is eroding.
With this nomination, take a moment and focus on the positive aspects of Public Service across America and in our community.
Jefferson Awards teach us that we can all do more than we ever imagined. The world has changed a lot in the past 30 years, but there are two basic truths that have not changed: One person can make a difference and we all have the responsibility to try.
