The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco kicked off spring break enforcement with a prolific number of arrests. Yesterday, ABT agents began a three–week–long spring break enforcement operation in Panama City with 125 arrests.  Agents arrested 119 for underage possession of an alcoholic beverage, three for giving false identification to a law enforcement officer, two for selling or giving alcoholic beverages to the underage and one possession of narcotics.

“I hope that 125 arrests on the first night of ABT enforcement sends a message to spring breakers that underage drinking is against the law and will not be tolerated in Florida,” said Interim Secretary Charlie Liem.

From March 11 through March 26, 20 ABT agents from around the state will be in Panama City to ensure compliance with underage drinking laws and retailer compliance with alcoholic beverage to prevent underage youth from obtaining alcohol.  ABT will partner with local law enforcement and other state agencies and serve as the lead agency on all tobacco- and alcohol-related offences.

The mission of ABT is to keep alcohol and tobacco out of the hands of underage persons, to ensure that licensed establishments are in compliance with the laws and rules regulating the industry in Florida, and to collect taxes and fees related to these industries.

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly.  The department licenses more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists.  For more information, please visit MyFloridaLicense.com.

ya you have to earn these two, laid and drunk. as far as the 12 thing goes, i dont think that age limit should change, which is 18 not 21. as long as your like any normal 18 yr old or older im sure you were the same way at that age thinking about having fun.

The point, gator, is that most of these yaboos wouldn’t give a second thought about dying for their country. Right now, all they are thinking about is getting drunk and getting laid, and both of these are something you have to earn. The logical, (or illogical) progression then is if it’s ok to drink when you’re under the legal age, then it should be ok to have sex when your 12.  I think not…..........

sadly I agree with RO, if your old enough to die for this country you should be able to drink if you want.

As a youngster, I had the same thoughts.. Why is it that I’m old enough to fight for my country, yet not old enough to drink in it. It was only after I got older that the truth was revealed.  The first truth was that, back in the day, there was something called a ‘draft’.  I chose to enlist so that I could pick my branch of service. The second truth was that I was fighting to defend the constitution, and defend the law of the land. If the law said that 21 was the legal drinking age..so be it. If I didn’t like the law, I could fight to change it, but that didn’t give me the right or entitlement to break it. These days, there is no draft, and today’s young men and women VOLUNTEER to defend our country and its way of life. But it does NOT give them or anyone else the right to break the law. If you think the law is unjust, then work to change it. If not, then live by it or suffer the consequences. That’s something spring breakers and others have yet to understand. No scam, just the law.

Retired one you are spot on about our service people who put their life on the line and can’t drink legally.

I belive they the Poli word ticians should look within,as we have more shady individuals in Wash. DC then we have in Bay County, and that is not something to be proud about Bay County.

The Lord must have made Liberals for some reason, just have to figure out what it is.

Your right, retired one, if a person can put their life on the line for this country, than they should be able to drink. If this was so importance for panama city beach to have The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, why didn’t they have the panama city beach police to their job and the FHP set up DUI check points along front beach room and Thomas drive.

The drinking age should be lowered to 18 years old.
This is a way to further tax the young people of our nation who are old enough to make a decision to join the military and die for their country, yet cannot legally obtain alcoholic beverage if they make that decision.
It isn’t like they arrested or ticketed just the drunks but went after ones with maybe one beer.
It makes no sense at all that an 18,19,or 20 year old ADULT, can die for their country, yet not have one beer. This is a scam to get money, that’s all.
All alcohol should be illegal, then. You can vote,by State Loterry gambling tickets, die for your country, and be kicked out legally by your parents at 18 but cannot have an open beer can.
Our whole system is really screwed up!
