More than two and a half years after the Bay County Boot Camp shut its doors, an agreement is reached on what to do with the empty building.
The facility is located on 11th Street across from the Juvenile Justice Courthouse. Bay County owns the land, but the state owns the building.
The boot camp closed in April 2006. Since then, county officials have been negotiating to get use of the building.
The county also owns the land the nearby Juvenile Justice Detention Center sits on and offered to give the state that land in exchange for the boot camp building.
Bay County spokeswoman Valerie Lovett says the Department of Juvenile Justice has agreed to that offer.
The official documents have not yet been signed, but the county intends to use the building for juvenile programs like Guardian Ad Litem and Teen Court.
