The airport board is trying to deal with a few financial snags today at its meeting. The budget is tight and that means the board needs to keep a close watch on the next phases of construction.
The budget and construction were main points in today’s meeting. The board and attorney are having some problems getting approval from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Army Corps of Engineers to begin pouring asphalt on runways. The board also addressed an idea that came out of yesterday’s legislative delegation meeting that would add more members to the airport board.
Board member Gerry Clemons says that is not feasible at this point: “This board has already made its position perfectly clear. We’d like to keep the current way of appointing members and simply add 2 members appointed by the walton county commission.”
The board did vote today to improve drainage underneath the runway. And will soon make a decision on the international customs portion of the airport.
