Any taxi cab or limousine company that wants to provide service to the new airport will be allowed, if they can meet the standards specified by the Airport Authority Board.
Tuesday, the board approved an open policy along with the fees it will cost each company.
Taxis and limousines will have to pay $225 per month. That’s the same rate as the current airport.
A new $250 per year fee will be added to courtesy shuttles from hotels and resorts.
Airport executive director Randy Curtis says they studied airports of all sizes and found this to be the best fit.
“It’s better to open it up for all the companies that qualify and meet the standards versus trying to be very restrictive and limited to just a few companies,” Curtis said.
Next meeting they will discuss the rules and regulations for ground transportation. They will be requiring each driver to attend hospitality training.
