What began as a verbal altercation between two men over a woman ended up with one man shot and the other in the Bay County Jail.
Just after midnight this morning, October 3, 2008, investigators responded to a local hospital after receiving a call in reference to a shooting. The victim stated he had been visiting a woman at 123 Casa Place, Panama City Beach at about 10 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2008, when her boyfriend, Edward Sams, entered the home and began a verbal altercation that rapidly escalated into a physical fight. According to the victim, Sams remained inside the home as the victim left. The victim and the woman stood together outside the home when Sams then came out into the yard carrying a handgun. The victim stated that Sams fired once into the air and then at the victim, shooting him in the left leg above the knee. The woman took the victim to a local hospital and dropped him off.
Edward Sams, DOB 8/18/62, of 19312 Front Beach Road, was arrested after investigators spoke with him about the incident. He was charged with Aggravated Battery and taken to the Bay County Jail.
