The Festival of Nations event downton is highlighting culture and diversity in Bay County. Showcasing more than 30 countries and 5 villages, it’s bringing out hundreds to share in their heritage.
Nine months of planning goes into the free event hosted by the Downtown Improvement Board. With food, bright costumes, and music, it draws a crowd.
Students from the Renaissance School showed off their skills in Mandarin Chinese in a marketplace atmosphere with a chance to see several countries in one day.
Participants and visitors say it’s a good chance to experience and learn about culture.
“The food first of all, the dress is great, the music is probably the most fun,” said visitor Cuck Senesac.
“Americans, we’re a mixture of everybody,” said participant Jamie Sasser, “we’re the melting pot and you should embrace and celebrate where your ancestors came from”
The festival continues Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
