The Bay County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has completed an investigation into the case of a Panama City Beach woman who fell to her death yesterday, September 4, 2008, at about 3:30 pm. Tamara Overton, a real estate agent with Bay Point Realty, was pronounced dead at a local hospital not long after she fell six floors from the balcony of a condo at Lagoon Towers in Bay Point.
Statements from another real estate agent with Ms. Overton shortly before her death were that he and Ms. Overton were looking at a condo at Lagoon Towers and discussing plans to conduct a future closing on a property. They sat on chairs on the balcony and noticed a problem with one of the ceiling fans overhead. The other agent stated he left the condo and went downstairs, but when Ms. Overton did not soon follow, he grew concerned and went back upstairs to check on her. It was then he discovered she had fallen over the railing of the balcony. Investigators believe she may have stepped up on one of the chairs in an attempt to fix a ceiling fan and fallen to her death. The chairs were swiveling chairs on wheels.
Tamara Overton was 56 years of age.
