Dogs were the main attraction at the Bay Point Marina Saturday for the Humane Society’s 5th annual Barkin’ on the Bay Festival.

The event is one of the Humane Society’s largest fundraising events offering a fun filled day for Bay County’s pet-loving community.

Pooches participated in a dock diving contest followed by frisbee catching, best pet tricks and pet-owner look-alike competitions…. and of course the ever-popular halloween costume contest where all types of dogs from small to large were all dressed up to impress.

News 13’s own Wayne Gentry was there serving as Master of Ceremonies.

Organizers tell News 13 that this event it to raise money and awareness of all the dogs that need a good home.

Also at this event was a Georgia woman training for this year’s Florida Ford Iron man Triathlon for a very special reason, to raise funds for the Bay County Humane Society.

Nancy McMahon came all the way from Atlanta for Barkin’ on the Bay.

She says the triathlon will mark the one year anniversary of the loss of her own dog which inspired her to help with this cause.

I’m glad to see there are some dogs that have a meager amount of intelligence.  All the ones up where I live know to do is poop in the neighbor’s yards and bark all night.  Other than that, they are dumb as stumps!
