Tonight at Edgewater guests of Bay Medical will sparkle in shine in their evening best for the Bay Medical Gala and Fundraiser.
As part of the gala celebration Bay Medical CEO and the marketing department hosted a walk-through tour of Bay Medical’s new intensive care and surgical addition this morning for guests.
The 144 private rooms are getting wiring and insulation right now. The cafeteria complex will have wiring soon as well. Bay medical looks forward to the opening of the state of the art complex in October of 2010. According to Bay Med marketing, the opening will display a community effort in finishing the new complex.
At the corner of Sixth Street and Highway 77, construction goes full speed to finish Bay Medical’s new addition. Rick Smith is VP of ancillary services. He says that the new square footage can’t be finished quick enough: “…which we desperately need not only from a patient satisfaction standpoint but also infection control and a number of other issues.”
The construction company and CEO lead the group of guests today through a comprehensive tour of the new complex. Entertainer for tonight’s gala, Jake Johannsen, says he’s excited about the tour and wonders…”do I get to keep the hat?”
The new complex is going to take over 70 million dollars to complete. So far the Bay Med employees themselves have contributed around 350 thousand and the community has chipped in about 3.4 million.
Tonight’s fundraiser is expected to raise over 200,000 dollars for the project, which will build new surgical facilities and ICU rooms.
Tonight’s gala fundraiser is an important one. Gala chairman Philip Griffitts expects 600 people to pack Edgewater’s ballroom for the soiree: “The room will be packed. It’s decorated. It looks great and we hope everybody comes out and has a good time.”
The project also includes the construction of a new energy plant that will help provide energy for the massive infrastructure. According to one of Bay Medical’s VP’s, Rick Smith, the current infrastructure has been in use for almost 40 years, so everyone involved in the project is eager to get all the money raised.
