Panama City, Fla:
If you plan on shopping bright and early on the day after Thanksgiving, it’s time to start planning.
All day people were out at the Panama City mall, scoping out the items to prepare to snag the good stuff before it runs out.
“I’m checking the stores out getting ready for black Friday… kind of get a view of what’s going to be on sale,” said shopper Katie Buxton.
With so many sales, these professional shoppers say they need to get organized to make sure they don’t miss anything.
“I’m going to do the mall today if I see something I really want to get I’ll come back on Black Friday, but I’ll probably go to Pier Park Friday morning,” said shopper Sherry Hale.
While many people are gearing up the old fashioned way, by actually looking for the items in the store, there are even more shoppers making their preparations online.
“Before we came here [the mall], Ii got on the internet and got on dealtaker.com and blackfriday.com and kind of scoped out what the deals would be,” said Hale.
Stores are taking advantage of social networking sites. If you become a fan of some stores on facebook, the offer you coupons. Stores are also tweeting their deals on twitter.com/ blackfriday.
Some shoppers came out early to avoid Black Friday completely.
“I would rather shop and pay a couple dollars more now than come Black Friday or Saturday or Sunday and not be able to find what I want and fight the crowds,” said shopper Tammy Tindal Husar.
But others say Black Friday is one of their favorite traditions.
“There’s kind of a thrill in fighting in the crowds. It’s just a part of Black Friday,” said Hale.
“This is the big event every year,” said Buxton.
The mall will be closed on Thanksgiving. Wal-Mart, K-mart, CVS, and Walgreens will be open.
