The Florida Department of Health accepts the voluntary license revocation of the nurse in the boot camp case and will take no further action against her.
In June, DOH filed a complaint against Kristin Schmidt for her actions after the collapse of offender Martin Anderson.
Anderson died several hours after an altercation with guards at the now-closed Bay County Boot Camp back in January of 2006.
According to the complaint, Schmidt failed to meet the standards of acceptable nursing in several ways, including not properly assessing Anderson’s condition, failing to provide emergency treatment, and failing to give accurate information to EMTs.
In response, Schmidt volunteered to permanently give up her nursing license, this week the board accepted the action as a suitable solution to the case.
In October 2007, a jury found Schmidt and all seven guards involved in the Anderson case not-guilty of manslaughter charges.
