Bay County, Fla:

Winning a Heavy Weight Title.  That’s the goal of the only American to Medal in boxing at the Beijing Olympics with a Bronze Medal.
It’s hard to believe the short time he’s been boxing what he has accomplished.
Deontay Wilder winner of the Bronze Medalist at the Beijing Olympics was here in panama city beach over the weekend enjoying a little R & R with his family and his daughter who fights everyday herself.

Deontay Said “she’s a fighter just like her father.  She’s went thru many obstacles thru ought her life just battling Spinafida, which is what she has.  All of the things the doctors say she wouldn’t be able to do, she’s out running around here at the beach enjoying herself walking, talking doing everything else.  So you know we’re just out here having fun.  You know just anything that I just get time to spend time with my daughter because I have been away for so long and now we are at the beach having fun at the beach back here with family it can’t get no better than this.”

After less than three years from the first time he stepped into a boxing gym in North Alabama, Deontay found himself fighting for his country.  An experience he has trouble putting into words.

Wilder said, “it was like one of those experiences that I can tell you what it was, but you actually had to be there in person just to experience it your self it was just so exciting”.
He went on to say, “if anybody would have told me 3 years ago that i would be doing this it would be just something I would have to smile at and laugh at what are you talking about”

Now the 22 year old amateur has signed to turn pro with Managers Shelly Finkel and Jay Deas, as well as Golden Boy Promotions as his Promoter and has set his sights on bring The Heavy Weight belt back to the United States.
