Panama City Beach, Fla:
The first Panama City Beach Council meeting of the new year brings some changes.
The council approved name changes to two places out on the beach.
The Dan Russell Pier will now be named the Rusell-Fields Pier, named after Elgin Fields, a pier supervisor from 1987 to 2001.
Beckrich Road will now be named Richard Jackson Boulevard, named after the only city manager Panama City Beach has had.
Also Thursday night, the city passed the Turtle Lighting Ordinance, restricting artificial lighting that may cause harm to marine turtle hatchlings.
The Doggie Dining Ordinance also passed, allowing the city to issue permits to establishments to designate outdoor areas for people and their dogs.
Mayor Oberst says she has received positive feedback on the Doggie Dining Ordinance.
All changes are effective immediately.
