Jury selection begins for a man accused of murdering a child.
Robert Sturdivant allegedly struck and threw two year old, Isaiah Howard, against a wall, which resulted in the child’s death. The incident happened November 9th of 2007.
Isaiah was the son of Sturdivant’s “then” girlfriend, Brittany Howard, and according to autopsy results, died from blunt trauma force.
Seventy-two people were considered as jurors for today’s jury selection. Six of those people, along with two alternates, were chosen to serve on the trial. The jury is comprised of three men and five women.
Each candidate was asked a series of questions to determine whether or not they could be a fair and impartial juror. Many people had trouble agreeing to those terms because of Sturdivant’s charges. He’s charged with first degree felony murder, second degree murder, and aggravated child abuse.
Many people were also disturbed when they found out pictures of young Isaiah, both before and after his death, would be used as evidence during the trial.
Sturdivant’s trial will take place Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week.
