Construction on State Road 79 Multi-Lane Project through Ebro Begins

Weather permitting, construction will begin August 12, 2009 on State Road 79 through the town of Ebro, from just north of Environmental Road to Strickland Road, in southern Washington County. Plans are to four-lane and add paved shoulders along the 1.7 mile section of roadway. A raised median, along with turn lanes will be constructed at various locations. Additional improvements include: striped bicycle lanes; upgraded drainage; storm drain improvements; storm water ponds; sidewalks; new signs and pavement markings. A mast arm signal system will also be installed at the SR79/SR 20 intersection. C. W. Roberts Contracting of Hosford, Florida is the prime contractor. Work on the $8.8 million multi-lane project is expected to take approximately 619 days to complete.
