Walton County, Fla:

A dream house for one child could mean a dream come true for another.  The Childrens’ Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) is holding its largest fundraiser throughout November.

“Just came here to have fun,” said 8-year-old Aidan Dillon, playing on a life-size firehouse fit for his backyard.

“He is all about fun,” said his mother Mariam, “and of course we’re all about the cause.”

Cottages for Kids is an annual playhouse auction to help CVHN raise money to provide health services to needy children.

“What we do is we facilitate mental health, dental health, and overall healthcare for kids who are uninsured or under-insured,” said CVHN representative Kate Johnson.

Thirteen houses are on display throughout the month.  Each are designed and constructed by different groups of volunteers.

“It’s just nice seeing all the kids,” said one builder, Craig Barenowski, “it’s like a Disney Land out here with all the playhouses.”

“You really just get to see a lot of people and you get to play with them and you get to play on these houses,” said 8-year-old Dillon, “and enjoy the life.”

Last year’s event brought in $120 thousand, helping CVHN purchase a mobile dentist.

“So far we’ve provided dental health care to over 400 kids in Walton County,” said Johnson.

Just one $10 thousand cottage can provide dental care for 40 kids.  Cottages for Kids has already sold one playhouse for $15 thousand.  Some also come with a “Buy it Now price.”

Cottages for Kids will be holding open playhouse tours between 11am and 4pm each Saturday until they go for Auction on November 29th.  The auction will be hosted by News13’s Amy Hoyt.
