Tallahassee, Fla:
Gay rights activists say they are planning to demonstrate outside the wedding and reception of Gov. Charlie Crist and Carol Rome next week in St. Petersburg and Wednesday the governor was asked about that planned protest.
Crist showed very little reaction to the prospect of activists gathering outside his wedding. A group called Impact Florida says it will, quote, “congratulate” the governor on his wedding and highlight the fact that gays don’t have the same right.
Gov. Crist had this reaction to the planned demonstration.
Gov. Crist supported the successful Amendment 2, which defines marriage between one man and one woman. It needed 60 percent to pass and it got 62 percent of the vote.
Impact Florida’s Web site says the group will also hold a candlelight vigil in downtown St. Petersburg after the governor’s wedding.
