NANETTE REAM EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY THE MONTH OF DECEMBER AT THE COASTAL BRANCH LIBRARY
WALTON COUNTY, Fla.-(November 21, 2008) – The Walton County Tourist Development Council (TDC) and Friends of Coastal Branch Library presents the artwork of Nanette Ream, the December Art in Public Places exhibit. Each month, this partnership brings new, distinct exhibits to the public through displays at the Coastal Branch Library.
“I began by choosing only two colors and tediously focused on textures to add interest and depth. The process became too limiting and boring for me and joy returned when I added that third color,” said Nanette. “It is surprising to see what can be created using only three colors, plus white and black. Rarely will you ever see any pure color “straight out of the tube” in my work.”
Nanette’s exhibit at the Coastal Branch Library, featured through the month of December, will include acrylic and mixed media that reflect life in paradise on the Gulf Coast. Her “less is more” approach to painting is apparent in her most recent work “Coral Collaborations” where one color pops off the canvas because of her use of a limited palette.
An Ohio Native, Nanette Ream majored in art in college with her sites set on becoming a commercial artist. After college however, making a living took priority and she did not pick up a brush for thirty years. Nanette finally returned home to become the third generation owner of her family’s tour company. Retiring in 2000, she and her husband Dave, found the Gulf Coast and decided to make it home. Blissfully, they reside in Santa Rosa Beach where life along the coast contains constant inspiration for her paintings.
“At times the addition of color defines a subject. In other cases, it is the color that causes abstraction, allowing the viewer to connect the dots and draw his/her own conclusions” added Ream.
