On Monday, June 29, 2009, at approximately 1:48 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the PeoplesSouth Bank in Greenwood, Fl. reporting that they had just been robbed. According to bank personnel a black male entered the bank and handed the teller a plastic bag along with a note instructing the teller to place the money in the bag.
The subject did not produce a weapon at the time of the robbery but did threaten to kill everyone if his instructions were not followed. The subject then left the bank with an undetermined amount of money and fled west across Hwy 71.
Tracking dogs from Jackson Correctional Institution and Apalachee Correctional Institution responded to the scene but were unable to establish a track. The suspect is believed to have gotten into an unknown type of vehicle.
The man is described as a black male, approximately 5’08” to 5’10” and 180–200 lbs. The subject was wearing a dark blue pull over shirt with a white long sleeve shirt underneath, baggy blue shorts and tennis shoes. The subject was also wearing a white ball cap with unknown insignia, straight shoulder length hair with pink streaks and sunglasses.
Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 482-9624 or Jackson County Crimestoppers at (850) 526-5000.
