Panama City, Fla:
The Deputy Chief of Police ends his career in Panama City, as he begins a new chapter in his career. Deputy Chief Joe Hall retires from Panama City as he takes on a new position.
After 21 years with the Panama City Police Department, Deputy Chief Joe Hall moves on to Bartow, in south central Florida, where he’ll be top cop.
At Gulf Coast Community College, Deputy Chief, Joe Hall, discovered what he wanted to do.
“One of my professors talked me into going into the police academy, thought I might have some interest in that. I did, and sure enough, I fell in love with the law enforcement profession and immediately got into it,” said Hall.
26 years ago, he began his career in the city of Callway, spent a few years at the Sheriff’s office, and eventually worked his way to second in command at the Panama City Police Department.
“Joey earned his way to where he is and where he’s going he’s earned that,” Sheriff Frank McKeithen.
The Deputy Chief is headed to Bartow, Florida, to be the Chief of Police.
“It will be a challenge for me. Here, being second in command, is not quite the same as being the Chief. So, there will be a challenge, there will be some changes, and I’m looking forward to that,” said Hall.
Aside from his duties with the Police Department, Deputy Chief Hall contributes his off time to the community. He’s part of the American Cancer Society, has served with Teen Court and helps out with the Special Olympics.
“I think this is a loss to the community, but it’s a step up for Joe. And you know, that’s what life’s all about,” said Panama City Commissioner, Billy Rader.
But, this won’t be the last Panama City sees of Deputy Chief Hall.
“All of my adult life I’ve lived in the Panama City area, so I’ll be coming and going,” said Hall.
Deputy Chief Hall’s last official day will be June 29th. It’s up to the Chief of Police to appoint someone to replace him.
