An investigation regarding child brutality and an unmarked cemetary is underway at the Dozier School for Boys in Marianna. The alleged crimes happened more than 50 years ago but was recently brought to light by a group of men who call themselves the “White House Boys”. They attended the school when they were young and say they were victims of abuse.
It’s been only a week since Governor Charlie Christ allowed Florida Law Enforcement to move forward with an investigation at the school. According to authorities there is a lot of ground to cover when it comes to figuring out who or what is buried in that cemetary.
Talking with people today, News 13 has heard speculations that the cemetary could house people who were victims of a fire or of a flu epidemic. But what is the most disturbing speculation is that the cemetary could house the bodies of boys who were beaten to death by administrators at the school during the 1950’s and 60’s.
Several people have come forward since this investigation started, saying they attended the school and would be beaten and whipped in a place on the grounds called the white house. Public Information Officer for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Heather Smith, says they are at the early stages of their investigation and need any available information to move forward with this case. If you have any information about this case call 850-410-8240.
