Bay County, Fla:
User Comments
State, and County represenatives along with those from the Department of Transportation announced today that two additional pans of the old Dupont bridge will be used as fishing reefs.
One truss span had already been designated to be a reef site in October. Now, two more truss spans will be removed and used as an artificial reef nine miles out into the Gulf of Mexico.
Represenatives feel this will eventually have a positive economic impact on the area and hopefully enhance the fishing and diving opportunities in Northwest Florida.
The removal of the truss spans come at a cost of 150-thousand dollars each from Bridge Repair and Rehabilition (BRRP) funds.
