The new Energy Bill moving through Washington has a lot of people asking a lot of questions…such as, how much will this affect my power bill?  And, how am I going to pay for it in these tough times?

This bill is complicated, something people on both sides of the isle agree on.  The bill aims to make utility companies reduce co-2 emissions and use more alternative energy sources.

The American Clean Energy and Security Act is 1,200 pages, but one thing ringing loud and clear is the possible increase in power rates.

“The EPA has thrown out a $175 more on your power bill per year…” said Michael White of Gulf Coast Electrical Cooperative.

Gulf Coast Electrical Cooperative brings power to 6 counties and says their customers will be affected if the bill becomes law.  This, despite being exempt from some sections of the bill.

“I know power plants aren’t the cleanest things in the world, but they are a necessity of life here as we continue to use a lot of energy everyday,” said White.

The problem comes from the carbon dioxide emitted into the air by burning coal and natural gas.  The bill requires electricity manufacturers to make 20% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2020 like solar and wind power.  The second component is to reduce carbon emissions by 17% by 2020. This is known as cap and trade, which means if the companies reach their cap they’ll be fined.

But Assistant Professor of Alternative Energy at Gulf Coast Community College, Antonio Adessi, says the bill may not be as scary as it sounds.

“It’s easy in a time of crisis especially in a financial crisis to think that everything is going to be a monster,” said Adessi.

He says even more than the increase in power rates, he’s worried about the future of prices if we don’t do something.

“We have to rethink our habits a bit and that is always never nice to say well we may need to live in smaller houses so usually people always have a reaction to it,” said Adessi.

The bottom line: prices will go up if the bill passes.

“I’d highly recommend that people start looking at what they use each day in their home or in their business.  How they can run their home more efficiently,” said White.

The bill could create up to 1.7 million new green energy jobs that are currently outsourced to foreign countries.  Adessi also says this bill is one step towards putting the U.S. on top of the 21st century market for a green industry.

I just can’t wait for all this CRAP to pass and become law.  When it does, I’ll be the first in line for my free health care, my energy subsidy, my food stamps, my free gasoline, my free mortgage….....etc., etc. etc I may even move to New Orleans where I can REALLY suck on the governments udder.

I work on powerhouses for a living,,,the average profit for a coal plant is over a million dollars a day, and they only upgrade when absolutely necessary,,they have not spent their money on cleaning up plants yet and are not going to start now,,,their only expense is buying government,,the clean energy act will only take money from taxpayers and when it comes to doing without it won’t be the congress or senate or even ole charlie christ and his swimmming pool,,,it will be u and me,,,make your own home self suffient and screw the “public utilities”,before they screw you!!!!

So sad when people are not represented by their local politicians.A lot of people in this area depend on a retirement or SSI disability or social security. All low paying income. How can they keep going with all these new plans of our representatives?I know of several people on SSI with an income of 6 to $800.00 a month. They live in a housing project paying $400 dollars a month in rent.Try to keep a car going, buying expensive gas, expensive insurance and pay expensive utility bills? They are able to squeeze by hoping no emergency comes along. They have to make choices very carefully.

This CHANGE has been going on. You’ve just chose to ignore it in the past. Spending bills originate in the House of Representatives. If you want to blame someone, start there. I don’t think there has been a spending bill vetoed in 9 years. That’s not change. That’s continuing the same.

Why isn’t there recycling in our state? Why is all garbage collection just dumped together? Why is there no deposits on bottles are plastic bottles? Energy is wasted like crazy every day in Florida.
To save power and lower costs and useage there needs to be mandatory recycling at every home and business and there needs to be a bottle bill introduced in the legislature putting a deposit on cans and bottles! This will cut litter and start a whole new industry and lower in the long run energy use and emmissions.
Vote out all incumbents in every election over and over every time as they no longer work for the people only themselves, PACTS,BIG OIL,BIG INSURANCE,and SPECIAL INTERESTS GROUPS. They do not work for you or the majority who elected them. They have sold you out as soon as they get elected and could care less about the citizens only what big business can fund their coffers!
Vote ALL incumbents out until they wake up! If you vote for any incumbent you must like being raped daily

I know. We can just lower taxes on the richest of the rich and everything will be alright. And if by chance that doesn’t work….well,it was just God’s will. Pardon me if I don’t buy into your eloquent right wingnut propaganda. I’m sure many will follow your slanted point of view and continue supporting our plutocracy. As for me,I will choose my own way, follow my own intuition, and refuse to embrace your biased rhetoric. Facts all come with a point of view, they can say anything you want them to. Have a nice day!!!

No suprise. The government has been doing everything it can lately to ensure a lower standard of living for my family. I firmly believe that there is much we all can do to save energy and help the environment, but I believe it can be done without forcing me to spend more money. Let’s face it, any cost associated with anything the govenment will require will always get passed on to the consumer. Then they’ll complain when we don’t spend enough at the after Thanksgiving sales. I’m really tired of a government that would rather protect the Delta Smelt than CA farmers and one that believes I care more about being green that providing for my kids.

American capitalism gone with a whimper
http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/107459-american_capitalism-0{Continued}

“First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture,... Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blind the foolish…”

“Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses… happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the “winning” side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America…”

“The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe…”

You See Russian journalist, controlled by the Government, have no concern about Political Correctness, Except their own; just tell it as they see it. Also with such obvious special delight when they feel it may mean the demise of their hated enemy the USA.  I could give you more but no time for now.

Maybe a few doubters of the political relationship to our nations economic situation will bother to reference this link. Those who think others are just critizing Pres. Obama because they’re Republicans etc. please see what other Nations say who could care less who the Pres is. It’s not just the Dem. Party & not just the 8 yrs. of Bush or the prior many yrs of the Dem. in power. It’s the desire of too many to have the Gov. take care of all their needs without realizing the loss of freedom associated with that as the founding fathers warned against, and many since.

For those who don’t reference the link here’s parts of the article:

Quote from Pravda Russian News:

“It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people…”

“True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. “Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters…”

All Our US Senators need to vote no on the “Cap & Trade Bill” {Continued}

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ibd/20090611/bs_ibd_ibd/20090611issues01

And I quote from the prior Yahoo Editoral.

““But in a classic case of the doubletalk we’ve all become familiar with, the administration is moving in exactly the opposite direction. Its cap-and-trade plan punishes those who produce and use domestic energy. It has proposed eliminating all tax incentives to produce oil and gas, and has slapped a 13% excise tax on all energy coming from the Gulf of Mexico.”“

““Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has canceled 77 oil and gas leases that were assigned to Utah. He stopped plans to lease oil shale rights in five Western states estimated to hold between 1 trillion and 2 trillion (with a “t”) barrels of recoverable oil. The Obama administration has decided not to issue leases for gas well drilling on the Roan Plateau in Colorado.”“

These are facts.  How you chose to interpet them is up to you.

Cap & Trade Bill

All Our US Senators need to vote no on the “Cap & Trade Bill” {Continued}
...“PRES. OBAMA called a House-passed climate change bill ““an extraordinary first step BUT spoke out against a provision that would impose trade penalties on countries that fail to cut greenhouse gas emissions.”...

Unbelievable, Ludicrous statement.  His whole bill is to penalise we Americans to force us to cut greenhouse gases, while raising the cost of anything made transported or sold in the USA.  HE IS KNOWINGLY DOING THIS WHEN OUR ECONOMY IS COLLAPSING WITH THE HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT ALMOST EVER SEEN. Then he doesn’t want to hurt anyone else’s economy IN THE WORLD.

Meanwhile changing to more electric vehicles will increase the co2 emissions since more electricity is generated with Coal which pollutes worse. On top of that the Electricity production can’t keep up with demand now much less increased needs. More blackouts & brown outs.

At least with diversity if an enemy hits a couple fuel depots we still have many more. If they hit the right Electricity grid spots they can knock out 60% of the power to the whole nation. Look what happened a couple years ago. So not only is Pres. Obama selling us out to foreign powers economically; While he doesn’t want to do anything to hurt their economy, But he is also making us more vulnerable to attack and conquer.

Big Oil’s Answer to Carbon Law May Be Fuel Imports (Update2)

By Joe Carroll and Edward Klump; June 26, 2009

Points from the full article:

“The same amount of gasoline that would have $1 in carbon costs imposed if it were domestic would have 10 cents less added if it were imported, according to energy consulting firm Wood Mackenzie in Houston. Contrary to President Barack Obama’s goal of reducing dependence on overseas energy suppliers, the bill would incent U.S. refiners to import more fuel, said Clayton Mahaffey, an analyst at RedChip Cos. in Maitland, Florida.”...

“The equivalent of one in six U.S. refineries probably would close by 2020 as the cost of carbon allowances erases profits, according to the American Petroleum Institute, a Washington trade group known as API. Carbon permits would add 77 cents a gallon to the price of gasoline, said Russell Jones, the API’s senior economic adviser.”...

“Drivers, airlines and trucking companies would pay an additional $178 billion annually, or about $560 for each man, woman and child in the U.S., according to the API, whose 400 members include Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil and the U.S. unit of Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Europe’s largest oil company.”...

If you think this is just the Oil companies trying to scare us better re-read some the other non Oil experts on Cost & Job losses etc it will cause, shown before this item.

Cap & Trade Bil

All Our US Senators need to vote no on the “Cap & Trade Bill” or Henry A. Waxman-Edward J. Markey global warming legislation.  Our Economy cannot withstand higher energy cost at this time.

Even if you think this is propaganda exagerated by opponents then why do supporters including Obama himself admit it will cost a bundle.

The Washington Times 5/10/09.
“Reducing our carbon footprint”
by Joe L. Barton,
Texas Republican,
Ranking member of the House of Representatives’ Energy and Commerce Committee.

“where President Obama says the price of electricity will “necessarily sky rocket” when the government caps carbon dioxide and issues emissions permits that utilities can buy and sell to one another.

“Your electricity bill will increase by 77 percent to 129 percent. Filling up your gas tank will cost anywhere from 60 percent to 144 percent more. The cost of home heating oil and natural gas will nearly double.”

According to the National Association of Manufacturers, a cap-and-trade law will cost 3 million to 4 million net jobs lost. The Heritage Foundation puts it between 1.8 million and 5.3 million, and Charles Rivers Associates estimated it as high as 7 million.

The obama government is not for the people but for the tax’s that they can pay out. This bill is not going to help any one but the government.
