The following was released Monday by the Central Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PANAMA CITY BEACH—The Central Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to a house fire at 232 Christmas Tree Lane on the west end of Panama City Beach in the early morning hours Monday. The fire, which started around 4 a.m. started in the laundry room of the two-story home and spread into the kitchen area.

Four families and a total of 12 residents were staying in the structure, which was heavily damaged throughout by smoke. Red Cross Disaster Action Team members responded to the fire and provided temporary lodging, food and counseling to all the residents.

The American Red Cross receives no government funding. To assist these families as well as other disaster victims in our area, please contact the chapter office at (850) 763-6587.
