Tallahassee, Fla:
Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a registered sex offender from Fernandina Beach has been arrested by the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit, based on a tip from Alabama that he was sexually assaulting a child. CyberCrime investigators arrested Michael Drew Roberson in Nassau County late last night on a warrant from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
The CyberCrime Unit was contacted yesterday and asked to help locate a suspect based on a tip from Alabama. A woman had contacted the Fort Walton Beach Police Department and reported that a man she was chatting with online had allegedly confessed to sexually assaulting his daughter. Through its investigation, the police department was able to identify the suspect as Roberson, 26, a registered sex offender.
The police also determined that the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office had an active warrant for Roberson’s arrest for one count of possession of child pornography. The child pornography charge was filed by investigators from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office late last month based on a joint operation coordinated with the CyberCrime Unit in March 2008. During that operation, a search warrant had been executed at a Ft. Walton Beach residence and later analysis of the digital evidence revealed numerous images of child pornography. Since that investigation, Roberson had relocated to Fernandina Beach in Nassau County.
Because investigators believed a child was at risk, the CyberCrime Unit was alerted and asked to locate Roberson as quickly as possible. Roberson was arrested without incident with assistance from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI. Investigators determined Roberson was not living with any children and did not have a daughter. A computer was also seized and will undergo forensic analysis. Roberson is currently being held at the Nassau County Jail for possession of child pornography.
Roberson was convicted in Okaloosa County in 2003 for lewd or lascivious conduct with a victim under 16. His sex offender registration information is available online at: http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/flyer.do?personId=39122
RFID Radio-Frequency IDentification, radio frequency identification microchip inserted under the skin. They use them on dogs, we can tag these sex offenders and know where they are at 24/7 and if they try to remove the chip, it can send out an alert to the police headquarters.
That registry system has too many flaws in it. We need a better system such as the one I’m suggesting.
How are you going to get the sex offender to agree to having a chip installed into him/her?
Shorter prison sentence maybe or part of the sentencing, like they do with probation. If you dont want to be tagged like cattle, then dont sexually offend another person, period.
This would be the best possible system ever.
And lets not stop there, we can then tag everyone in this country, and if you disagree with this, then you are a terrorist and we can behead them. These chips(marks) can be used for peace in this country and world.
