Here is a list of some Fourth of July events scheduled in our area:

LYNN HAVEN
7 a.m.—Pancake Breakfast, Lynn Haven Lions Club, 708 Iowa Avenue

Sharon Sheffield Park
8 a.m.—Lynn Haven flag raising ceremony, City Hall, 825 Ohio Avenue. National Anthem soloist: Jennifer Kelley. Tyndall Honor Guard will present the colors.
9 a.m.—Lynn Haven Fourth of July Celebration, Sharon Sheffield Park: Fishing Rodeo Registration, Arts & Crafts, Vendors, Food & Entertainment for kids, Inflatables, pony rides.
10:30 a.m.—Lynn Haven Horseshoe tournament, sponsored by Bay County Bass Club, ages 12 and under.
10:45 a.m.—Lynn Haven welcome by Mayor Walter Kelley followed by a performance by the Panama City Pipes & Drums
11:00 a.m.—Lynn Haven watermelon eating contest registration
11:30 a.m.—Lynn Haven, Karuz Rhythm Team
12:30 p.m.—Lynn haven, Performance “East Bay”
2:30 p.m.—Lynn Haven, Performance Emerald Coast Cloggers

A.L. Kinsaul Park (End of 5th Street)
5:00 p.m.—“Beauties on the Bay” Car Show Registration Begins, Proceeds will go to the Panama City Rescue Mission
7:15 p.m.—Performance by “Bay Wind Community Band”
8:00 p.m.—Trophies Awarded “Beauties on the Bay”, Viewers/Mayor’s choice
8:45 p.m.—Concert Ends
9:00 p.m.—Fireworks begin

PANAMA CITY
“Centennial Big Splash” 4th of July Celebration!
This year’s Downtown Panama City July 4th event is called “The Centennial Big Splash” and will feature “LIVE” entertainment all day concluding with a special $50,000 fireworks display launched from not one, but TWO barges. Events will take place from 10am-10pm at the Panama City Marina.
Noon to 8:30 p.m.—Live performers, Marina Entrance State
2 p.m.—Hanger Sixx, Florida Lottery Stage
2 p.m.—Home Depot Kids Workshop
4 p.m.—Emerald County Line, Florida Lottery Stage
5 p.m.—Military flyover
6 p.m.—Billy Rader Family, Florida Lottery Stage
9 p.m.—Big Splash fireworks

PIER PARK, PANAMA CITY BEACH
Noon—Rebel Syndicate, Pier Park Cafe’ Area
Noon—James Dain, Boardwalk Stage, Pier Park C Building
2 p.m.—The Spring, Main Stage, Aaron Bessant Park Amphitheatre
2:30 p.m.—Franky Velvet and the Mighty Vel Tones, Pier Park Cafe’ Area
2:30 p.m.—Donnie Sundal Project, Boarwalk Stage, Pier Park C Building
3 p.m.—Eating contests (18 years and older), Family Activity Tent: Hot Dog Eating Contest, Wing Eating Competition, Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest

8 a.m.—Inaugural Smoky J’s Bar-B-Que Contest, awards at 3 p.m.
3 p.m.—Children’s Activities
4:30 p.m.—Parade
6 p.m.—Opening ceremonies
6:15 p.m.—Flyover
7 p.m.—Jones and Company
9 p.m.—Fireworks

APALACHICOLA
10 a.m. (EDT)—Parade, downtown

FREEPORT
10 a.m.—Parade (Freeport Middle School)
Other activities: miniature trolley, a 100’ slip-n-slide and sprinklers to keep everybody cool, a city wide scavenger hunt, Skateboard demonstration and competition by Splinter Youth, remote controlled model aircraft demonstration, 3 on 3 basketball and volleyball tournaments, sidewalk chalk art, many games and don’t forget lots of food vendors, too. Highlight of the afternoon will be a tree top trimming fly over of F-15’s at 6:30 p.m.

SEASIDE
7 p.m.—“Rollin’ in the Hay.” This Birmingham, Alabama band offers high-octane groove grass with a touch of down home foot stompin’ Renegade Bluegrass.
9 p.m.—Fireworks

CHATTAHOOCHEE
4 p.m.—City of Chattahoochee Gigantic July 4th Extravaganza, at River Landing Park: Gospel singing by various groups, food and beverage vendors.
9 p.m.—Fireworks

CHIPLEY
4 p.m.—Third annual July 4th Celebration, hosted by Cypress Creek Community Church and the Orange Hill Volunteer Fire Department, at the fire department, 1927 Orange Hill Road in Chipley. Activities include free buggy rides and children’s activities. Hot dogs, hamburgers, cotton candy, other treats and drinks will be available. Live music will be provided by Quad C. The 325th Fighter Wing from Tyndall Air Force Base will make a fly-over with at 5:30 p.m.
9 p.m.—Fireworks at “dark-thirty.”

SOPCHOPPY
The Sopchoppy Fireworks display, a day-long celebration that features a parade, canoe race, food and entertainment.

MEXICO BEACH
Mexico Beach boasts a full day of activities for the 4th, including a 5k walk/run, children’s fishing tournament and fireworks display on the beach.

4h of july represents the day we screwed the british. I believe instead of fireworks, lets make a loan with the british before the 4th of july and on the 4th of july, lets not pay them.

I really think it’s a shame that people in this town have their priorities so backwards. Some schools have been closed and the kids have to get their own way to their new school. Yet, the county some how has an extra $50,000 to spend on fireworks. Yes Independence Day should be celebrated but that’s rediculous. That money could have been put into the school system. Not just the fireworks show, but all the other events that are really not that important. And nothing should be more important than an education. Yet the adults wonder why alot of kids don’t care to even try. Well maybe they should lead by example.
