Bay County, Fla:

A monthly community event takes on a new focus tonight as Bay County celebrates the short life of a little girl killed at her school bus stop last month.

At 6 p.m. vendors will kick off the November edition of Friday Fest in Downtown Panama City on Harrison Avenue.  This month all tips collected by the non-profit vendors will be donated to the Melissa Tindell Foundation.

Tindell, 13, was killed while trying to rescue a kitten in the middle of the John Pitts Road in October.  Now her family is championing an effort to place “Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25” signs near school bus stops.

Proceeds from Friday Fest will be used to pay for the signs.  Friday Fest on Harrison Avenue lasts until 10 p.m. with fireworks in Melissa’s honor starting at 8 p.m.  Melissa Tindell’s family will be making brief remarks at 4th and Harrison just before the fireworks begin.
