Defuniak Springs, Fla:
The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Torie A. Gilbert, a Fugitive wanted for Felony Violation of Probation in an area just outside the City of DeFuniak Springs today (March 4th 2010).
The suspect was wanted on Felony Violation of Probation Charges and had been listed as a Probation Absconder by the Florida Department of Corrections since November 2009. Gilbert, 37, of DeFuniak Springs was arrested around 10 a.m. at a residence just outside of DeFuniak Springs by U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force. Members of the Task Force include DeFuniak Springs Police, Fort Walton Beach Police, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Office of State Probation, Office of the State Attorney and the U.S. Marshal’s Office.
The DeFuniak Springs Police had been gathering information as to Gilbert’s location as he is the subject of an on-going criminal investigation. This information took the Task Force Officers to several different locations in and around the City of DeFuniak Springs, where Gilbert was subsequently taken into custody. Gilbert has a violent criminal history and is known to resist law enforcement, including using acquaintances to cover his tracks helping Gilbert to remain at large. The investigation remains open pending further charges.
