Gulf County Closer to Improvements to Stumphole Rock Barriers

Three months after waves from Hurricane Gustav washed over protective barriers in Cape San Blas, Gulf County is one step closer to making improvements to the road.

In September, waves from Gustav crashed over rock barriers on Highway 30E in the Stumphole area

Earlier this year, Gulf County officials applied for a permit so they can replace the small rocks currently making up the barrier with larger ones

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has notified the county it intends to grant the permit.

If no one files an objection, the permit should be granted soon.
