The flu season has arrived and is not yet over, so it’s not too late to get your H1N1 Swine flu vaccine. Health officials are urging those who have not been vaccinated against the virus — or the regular seasonal flu — to do so. The Walton County Health Department is offering free vaccination on an appointment basis. To schedule an appointment, please call the Walton County Health Department in DeFuniak at (850) 892-8015 or the Coastal branch office in Santa Rosa Beach at (850) 267-8350.
Vaccination is the best protections against contracting H1N1 Swine Flu. All residents are encouraged to be vaccinated, including
· persons 65 years or older
· Individuals with chronic health problems such as heart or lung disease, asthma, diabetes or cancer.
· Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities
· All women who will be pregnant during flu season.
· Children 6-23 months old
· Health care workers.
· Healthy persons ages 3 – 64 years
