A story can help save lives.

Today, Head Start held a reading festival to educate kids and parents about health and safety. At the event, children read books while mom and dad received literature about risks.

About 200 kids listened to stories, interacted with Sheriff’s deputies, and learned about fire safety. The goal is to get kids to understand the dangers of real life.

The kids had fun, while they got informed.

“With these kinds of events we’re able to get all that information out to all of our families,” said Head Start Executive Director, Pam Fleege.

Organizations from all over the county participated.
