FiveTips for Planning a Successful Family Reunion

Planning a family reunion doesn’t have to be work. Here are some fun tips from Tamagotchi and Family Reunion.com on planning a successful one:

1. Get an early start.
With everyone’s busy schedules these days, you’ll have a better shot at getting grandma and grandpa and maybe even your favorite cousins to come. Most people start planning a year or longer in advance.

2. Resist an overly active event.
A reunion crammed with too many activities not only leaves your cherished guests out of breath, but they won’t have time to catch up with what’s going on with their loved-ones. Plan some activities that will stimulate laughter and conversation and leave holes in the schedule for free time and spontaneous fun that just happens from your time together.

3. Get input from your guests.
Call, write, e-mail or IM your family to schedule your reunion around other family events such as graduations, weddings, anniversaries, etc. Ask them what kind of reunion would work best for them, a picnic at a park? A get-together at grandma’s house? A weekend cruise or resort getaway?

4. Get some helpers.
It’s worth the effort to get a committee of grownups and kids together to brainstorm ideas. And on the big day, lots of helping hands means the jobs are divided leaving more time for everyone to have fun!

5. Spread the word.
Start with your Christmas card list and go from there. Post your announcement free at FamilyReunion.com and keep it up to date as plans change. Put together a cool flier or a letter and e-mail it to all those you hope will come. Be sure to print some and get them in the mail for relatives that don’t have computers. And include a map to your gathering.

How to Get the Kids Excited About Your Upcoming Family Reunion
