Industrial Accidental Death at Spanish Trail Lumber

On March 26, 2009 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Deputies responded to Spanish Trail Lumber in Cypress in reference to an industrial accidental death.  It was learned the victim, Rufus Dudley, 48 years of age was struck by a 12 foot 2x4, after it was ejected from a planer machine.  Dudley was struck in the upper torso and as a result died on the scene. 

The U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration was also contacted due to the incident being an industrial accident.  The investigation is continuing by the Sheriff’s Office.
