Parker, Fla:

An infant’s death is under investigation.  And tonight the mother, who authorities say woke to find the three month old unresponsive, is facing drug charges while questions remain about the child’s death.

Sources within the medical examiner’s office say that the cause of death is pending further investigation.  More tissue tests and toxicology tests will be conducted to further investigate.  The baby’s mother, 30 year-old Carrie West of Largo faces charges of posession of oxycodon with intent to distribute and tampering with physical evidence.

“Somebody told us a baby died,” says Felicia Jacobs.  Jacobs and her fiance, Donie Jordan, woke to take her son to school this morning.  But they were stunned to see police and a crime scene outside their room door:  “...he said there’s a bunch of cops outside. And I said ‘what are they doin?’ and he said one of the cops stopped him and asked him which way…if he was comin up this way and he said no my room’s back there.”

Jacobs’ room was directly behind room 206, where the Parker Police Department says Carrie West woke to find her three month old infant unresponsive. Staff that were working say that they heard screaming coming from room 206 at about 8:30 this morning.

The staff members then went outside to find people standing outside the room. They said the baby was sick and that they’d already called the police.  When police arrived they say they found oxycodone pills in the motel room.  Investigators say the presence of pills suggests another problem: “People are traveling down to South Florida to get these perscriptions and bringing the tablets up here from other counties to sell.”

Detective Aaron Wilson says it’s become a big problem for Bay County law enforcement:  “We’ve had several overdose deaths, several in the last two years even from overdoses of these controlled substances.”

It’s not known if the drugs are in any way connected with the child’s death.  The baby died this morning soon after arrival at Bay Medical.
Again, further tests will be done to determine the cause of death.

ual2fcdbtchs - I think everybody on here cares about Carrie & the baby….it’s a news article about someone we know…do you honestly think we are not going to discuss how we feel?  Not trying to argue over this because everyone is hurting - believe me…I personally know and don’t give 2 sh*** if u know who I am…This is a tragedy and had better decisions been made, it could have been avoided.  The only angel in this situation is Jaiden. You can say what u want but I won’t waste another second replying to petty posts.

LG…now that’s one for you!  Not hard to figure out who I am sweetie.

I also know the people involved and by reading the comments also know who posted them just how they are worded. Now I ask how can someones tradgedy become everyones debate on what was right or wrong? When most of you commenters at one time were running dogs and ace boon coon with Carrie. And who are all of you to judge her when yall party and have children. Take a step back, grow up, and pray for that little boy whom GOD removed from her. This is her wake up call that she took life for granted and something she has to live with for the choices she made and the path she walked. Because after the climax of this is all over you all will forget Jaiden but his mother and family will carry the remorse forever. And Children services in a joke and will never be able to protect the children in need because they focus on stupid cases.

Coming from someone who also knows Carrie & the baby’s father…this is a tragedy.  I only hope that what she was donig in the hotel or down in S. Florida wasn’t a direct result of Jaiden’s death…

I do know the girl and i do kno that this baby was a fighter everything that bjs said is true. She was not ready to have this baby and the baby was a preemie she was taking this baby everywhere with her and she shouldnt of. The baby should not of been on a road trip with her especially how messed up she has been lately. Using and selling those pills like she was thats all she was worried about. Best wishes to her mom dad son and daughter. RIP Jaiden.

I know the ppl involved in this and I am so incredibly sad. This baby was born early fighting for his life because of his mom’s drug use. He fought to live and dps chose to give the mom custody of him even tho she didnt have custody of her two other children. they gave her a “chance” to do the right thing. He didnt have a chance. I don’t think there should be a mandate to “keep families together” if at all possible. As this tragedy illustrates some ppl shouldn’t be parents! it is so sad to that ppl need a license to drive a car or be married, but they can have a human being that is totally dependent on them anytime they want. something is so wrong about that.
