Jackson County, Fla:
On Thursday February 4th, 2009 the Jackson County Drug Task Force and Florida Highway Patrol Contraband Interdiction Unit arrested Marlos Kirkland, 26, of 2890 Lovewood Road, Cottondale, Florida. The arrest came after an investigation into illegal narcotics being delivered to his residence in Cottondale, Florida. Investigators had been monitoring a package that was to be delivered to the residence. After the package was delivered, Investigators made contact with the defendant and recovered the package that had been delivered. The package was found to contain approximately eight pounds of compressed marijuana. Upon searching Kirkland’s residence, Investigators discovered additional marijuana, a semi-automatic handgun, SKS semi-automatic rifle, and a shotgun. Plastic wrap and items consistent with packaging illegal narcotics were also located in the residence. Marlos Kirkland was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail to await First Appearance on charges including Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Violation of State Probation. This case is still under investigation and additional arrests may be made.
The Jackson County Drug Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional Task Force that is a combined effort of the Graceville Police Department, Cottondale Police Department, Marianna Police Department, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
