Jackson County, Fla:
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen truck Wednesday that had been missing for two months. The truck was found parked at the Pilot Travel Center on State Road 71 at the Interstate 10 interchange.
Law enforcement is asking for the public’s help in finding the person who stole it.
The 1994 white Ford L8000 truck, valued at $34,000, was identified after it was towed. According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, Pilot Travel Center staff said the vehicle had been parked in the rear parking lot for several weeks.
When the wrecker company made a routine report to the sheriff’s office, the license plate on the truck was checked out by the Florida Crime Investigation Center. The plate showed the vehicle had been reported stolen on Oct. 6 to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The owner of the vehicle is an employee of RSD Construction Company, based in Lakeland. The truck was reported stolen from the area of U.S. Highway 231 and Interstate 10 near Cottondale.
RSD employees were installing roadway signs in the Cottondale area and had parked the truck at the job site the night before. When they arrived to the site the next morning, the truck was missing.
The vehicle is currently being processed for evidence and will be returned back to RSD Construction Company once that is done.
There are no suspects in this case, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have information concerning the case is asked contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 482-9648, or CrimeStoppers at 526-5000.
