One of golf’s most recognizable faces is in Panama City Beach today to be a guest of honor at the Billy Pierson Golf Tournament.
Mr. Grip it ‘n Rip it himself, John Daly is at the Holiday Golf Club to help raise money for the event named in memory of Billy Pierson, a local musician who died last year in a car accident.
Pierson and Daly were friends for a number of years.
The 32-team scramble started at 10 o’clock this Sunday morning with participants having the chance to tee off alongside Daly on the first hole.
Daly says he is glad to be part of a good cause.
“It’s a great cause. We are going to make it bigger and better next year. Billy was with me a lot over the years. His heart was in Make a Wish, so we’ll probably do this a lot for Make a Wish next year and some other charities as well,” said Daly.
