Twenty Bay County educators are getting a little help to make learning come alive for their students.
Today the Junior Service League and the Bay Education Foundation awarded more than $15,000 in “Excellence in Education” grants.
Thirty-one area teachers received $500 each for them to implement creative learning experiences for their students.
The grant money can be used for materials like computer software, tickets to performing arts or visual art events, and books, which foundation leaders say will enhance the classroom experience.
“There are 31 classrooms out there where the students will enjoy the extras and enhanced curriculum, an innovative project, a special field trip that frankly they wouldn’t have been able to have otherwise,” says Beth Deluzain, executive director of the Bay Education Foundation.
Teachers submitted applications for the grants, which were reviewed by a panel. Each grant is earmarked for a specific project.
