Many people are forgoing the Thanksgiving Day traditions. Instead, they are camping outside of local shopping centers hoping to get a head start on Black Friday shopping.
As many as a dozen people were already camping outside of the Best Buy on 23rd Street around 9:30 this morning.
Lezlie Janzzak started her wait in line at 4:30 this morning, more than 24 hours before the store will open for its Black Friday sales. She’s hoping to get a deal on a computer for her daughter. She, along with others, wants to make sure she gets the best deal for the item she wants.
Some are having family bring Thanksgiving to them while they camp out. Early shopper, Ray Tappan, says, “My grand mother is having Thanksgiving this year and my mom promised she would bring me, my brother Andrew and my best friend Tom here a plate.
Many of the people camping outside were “veteran” Black Friday shoppers. Some have done the camp out three years in a row.
Best Buy distributes tickets around 3:00 a.m tomorrow morning, two hours before the store opens. Since the store only has so many of each item, those items get distributed to people on a first come first serve basis. That system also prevents controversy from happening in the store.
