When alert DeFuniak Springs Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 331 Friday Night, they wound up with more then just several traffic offenses, they found a mobile Methamphetamine Lab.
Justin Blake Cecil DOB 06/04/1983, 76 Hickory Loop, Freeport, Florida, was stopped for speeding and arrested for having a stolen registration tag on his vehicle. After the arrest, DeFuniak Springs Police Officers conducted an inventory of the vehicle prior to having it removed from the scene. It was at this time that the alert officers located several suspicious items inside of the vehicle. The patrol officers notified the DeFuniak Springs Criminal Investigations Division and upon responding to the scene, Investigators determined that the specialized members of the Walton County Sheriffs Office, Narcotics Unit, were needed to help assess the suspicious items.
DeFuniak Springs Police and the Walton County Sheriffs Office partnered together and it was determined that the suspicious items were in-fact listed and essential ingredients, used in the manufacture Methamphetamine. Officers found a substantial amount of Pseudoephedrine, the main ingredient used in Meth Manufacture, along with other listed and essential ingredients.
The driver of the mobile Meth Lab was booked into the Walton County Jail and faces several traffic and narcotics related charges. The scene was released once a Hazardous Materials Team arrived and properly secured and removed the dangerous and toxic items from the area. The investigation is on-going.
