Budget cuts make our schools a priority. That’s the message a group of teachers want the community to be aware of in response to the special session that began January 5th in Tallahassee.
About a dozen school teachers from the Bay, Gulf and Walton County Education Associations came together outside of the Association of Bay County Educators Office on Beck Avenue. The teachers are campaigning on radio stations to make their voices heard.
The state legislature has cut $26 million from area schools and it’s money Brian Phillips with ABCE says they can’t afford to lose.
“It’s taken a toll on these school districts,” Phillips says, “So what we’re asking is that our legislators for this year to stop budget cuts, we simply can’t afford it, our students can’t afford it and our public education can’t afford it.”
The group is asking people to contact five friends about the issue and then contact their local leaders.
Privatize education. Get rid of National Education Association. Get use to it. Our education system gets poor results, poorly perform = cuts.
