Man Accused of Killing Toddler to go on Trial

One year after the death of a toddler, a Springfield man accused of killing the child is set to go on trial this week.

Jury selection is set for Monday in the murder trial of Robert Sturdivant, 26. 

He’s charged with first degree felony murder and aggravated child abuse in connection with the November 9, 2007, death of 2 year-old Isaiah Howard. 

Initial autopsy results show the boy died from blunt force trauma.

Springfield Police say Sturdivant admitted to hitting the child on the back of the head and throwing the boy into a wall.
