Marianna, Fla:
Marianna police are conducting an investigation into the death of an 18-year-old pregnant woman whose body was found in her apartment late Tuesday afternoon.
Her one-year-old child was found inside the apartment with her, police said. Family last spoke to the woman Saturday night. It was not known how long she had been dead when her body was discovered on the floor of her bedroom.
Her name was not immediately released, pending a report from the medical examiner’s office.
Investigating officer Lt. Dan Hodges said Thursday there appeared to be no sign of foul play and no indication of suicide.
The woman was five to six months pregnant. She had chronic asthma and diabetes, he said, but it is not yet known whether those illnesses contributed to her death.
The body was discovered by a maintenance man at Old Cottondale Village Apartments.
He heard a baby crying for an extended period of time inside the apartment, and got permission from the manager to enter the dwelling after knocking on the door and getting no response.
