Panama City, Fla:
When surgery and pills don’t work to relieve pain, some people choose other methods of pain relief such as acupuncture. Acupuncture is a method of treatment that works with the body’s energy so the body can heal itself. It’s used for pain management, stress relief, infertility issues, and digestive issues just to name a few.
Deanna Beter said her back surgery left her with numbness in her foot, and that’s when she decided to try acupuncture.
“The acupuncture helped tremendously,” Beter said. “Immediately when I got off the table, I could feel my toe again, which was a big thing.”
Acupuncture is traditional Chinese medicine. It’s been around for about three to five thousand years. Tiny needles are inserted into the body, and it’s a painless process.
Gale Cooney is a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine and is licensed in Acupuncture. She treats patients with a variety of problems, including allergies and body pain. She says the cost of acupuncture can sometimes be less than your insurance copay. The first visit is $75 and $50 after that. She recommends at least six visits.
