Those of you with a sore throat are not alone.  Dr. Timothy Nichols from Emerald Coast Urgent Care in Panama City Beach says one type of infection that can cause a sore throat is Tonsillitis.  He says, “Tonsillitis is an infection or inflammation of the tonsils,” and it’s “usually caused by viruses.”

Dr. Nichols explains that common symptoms include: sore throat, fever, swelling of the tonsils, redness of the tonsils, drainage or white patches on the tonsils, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck.

It’s important to see a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.  A doctor can tell you if your sore throat is caused by a virus or if it’s bacterial in nature, such as Strep Throat.
