Panama City, Fla:
Many of us take our eyesight for granted, but a condition as common as diabetes can cause blindness. Diabetic Retinopathy is a condition in which eyesight is affected by diabetes. It can not only cause a change in your vision but blindness if not treated. Specialists at The Eye Center of Northwest Florida say they have the latest technology to make treatment easy for the patient.
Dr. Jeffrey Pyne says state of the art technology is making it easier to control problems like Diabetic Retinopathy, which affects the blood vessels that nourish the retina and fluid to leak in the eye. Dr. Pyne says they have identified medicines that can be injected into the eye to help dry the fluid up. Doctors say this can have the same results as using laser treatment.
November is Diabetic Retinopathy month, and it’s a great time to remember to practice a healthy lifestyle and talk to your doctor if you have a family history of diabetes.
