Miramar Beach, FL– What began as a quiet social gathering for 14 friends ends in tragedy Thursday morning in Miramar Beach, FL. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call that shots had been fired at the Summer Lake town homes around 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
When Deputies arrived they found one male, Nicolas Pablo Corp-Torres age 23 and one female, Racine Balbontin-Aragondona, age22 deceased at the scene. Deputies also discovered three victims that had been wounded. Fransisco Javier Cofre-Fernande, age 25 was air lifted by life flight to Sacred Heart and is in critical condition. Sebastian Mauricio Arizaga-Suarez, age 27 was also air lifted to Sacred Heart and is listed in stable condition at this time. The third victim, David Alonzo Bilbao-Meza, age 21 was taken to a local hospital and is listed in good condition.
The shooter, Dannie Roy Baker, was a neighbor and began shooting his rifle into a window from outside of the town home around 1:45 a.m., never entering the victim’s residence. There has been no indicator of motive at this time as to why this event came to this tragic end. The young adults who were visiting Walton County from Chile on student work visas had gathered for the evening in a friend’s town home. There were no complaints of loud noise or partying reported.
Sheriff Adkinson and the entire Walton County Sheriff’s office remains committed to the professional and timely investigation of this incident, and to addressing the immediate needs of the victims of this senseless act of violence.
